Bookings and Consultations
Complimentary introductory consultation
The complimentary 15-minute consultation is intended to provide a brief opportunity to discuss your home, your main concerns and the type of service that may be suitable.
Detailed decorating, layout, colour or product-selection advice is not ordinarily provided during this introductory consultation.
In-home appointments
In-home consultations and other paid appointments are arranged separately after the introductory consultation or direct enquiry.
A booking is not confirmed until any required payment has been received and we have confirmed the appointment date and time.
Standard travel within Hervey Bay may be included where stated. Travel outside the normal service area may incur an additional fee, which will be disclosed before the appointment is confirmed.
Prices and Payment
All prices are stated in Australian dollars. GST will be included where applicable.
Standalone consultations
Full payment is required in advance to confirm a standalone in-home decorating consultation.
This includes consultations booked at a standard price or under a promotional or launch offer.
Fixed-price decorating packages
Unless otherwise stated in writing:
- a 50% deposit is required before work begins
- the remaining balance is payable before final plans, mood boards, product lists or completed project documents are supplied
- work may be paused while an invoice remains overdue
Hourly services
Additional decorating, sourcing, shopping or styling work is charged at the hourly rate stated in the quotation or on the website.
We may require an agreed block of time to be paid in advance. Additional approved time may be invoiced separately and will be payable by the due date shown on the invoice.
Larger projects
Multi-room or larger decorating projects may be divided into stages. Deposits, progress payments and final payments will be described in the written proposal.
Overdue payments
Where an amount is overdue, we may pause further work or withhold incomplete project material until payment is received. This does not affect any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
Consultations
- More than 48 hours’ notice: you may reschedule once without charge or request a refund
- Between 24 and 48 hours’ notice: a reasonable cancellation charge of up to 50% of the consultation fee may apply
- Less than 24 hours’ notice or failure to attend: the consultation fee may be retained to reasonably compensate for the appointment time reserved
Genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances will be considered reasonably.
Decorating packages and project work
You may cancel a decorating package or project by giving written notice.
If work has already commenced, you will be responsible for:
- work reasonably completed up to the cancellation date
- approved expenses already incurred
- reasonable supplier or third-party charges that cannot be recovered
Any remaining unused portion of money paid will be refunded after those amounts have been deducted.
Cancellation by Hervey Bay Interiors
If we need to cancel an appointment, we will offer a suitable alternative date or refund the amount paid for the cancelled service.
Client Responsibilities
You agree to:
- provide accurate information about the property, project, budget and intended use of the space
- identify any relevant access restrictions, hazards or safety concerns before an in-home appointment
- ensure that we can safely and lawfully access the property at the arranged time
- advise us of any rental, body corporate, retirement-village or other approval requirements
- check measurements, product information and specifications before placing an order where you purchase directly
- make final decisions about purchases, colours, products and implementation
You are responsible for obtaining any required consent from a property owner, body corporate, village operator or other authorised person before making physical changes to a property.
Products, Purchases and Third-Party Suppliers
Direct client purchasing
Wherever practical, you will purchase approved furniture, furnishings, accessories and other products directly from the relevant retailer or supplier.
This means that the purchase contract, payment, receipt, delivery arrangement and product warranty will generally be between you and that supplier.
Orders placed on your behalf
Where we agree to place an order on your behalf, the full product price, delivery charges and any disclosed ordering fee must be received in cleared funds before the order is placed.
Hervey Bay Interiors is not required to personally finance or carry the cost of products ordered for a client.
Availability and variations
Product prices, availability, production times and delivery dates may change without notice because they are controlled by third-party suppliers.
Colours, patterns, natural materials and finishes may appear different under varying lighting conditions or on different screens. Fabrics, timber, stone and handmade products may also contain natural or production variations.
Where an item becomes unavailable, we may suggest a reasonable alternative for your approval. We will not substitute an item without your agreement.
Delivery, assembly and installation
Delivery, assembly, trades, installation and removal services are not included unless specifically stated in writing.
Third-party suppliers and trades remain responsible for their own products and services, subject to your rights under applicable law.
Nature of Decorating Advice
Hervey Bay Interiors provides interior decorating and styling advice. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, our services do not include architectural, structural, engineering, building, electrical, plumbing, legal, financial or other regulated professional advice.
Any work requiring a licence, technical certification or professional approval must be assessed and completed by an appropriately qualified and licensed professional.
Decorating recommendations involve personal taste and judgment. We will consider the information you provide, but we cannot guarantee:
- that every suggestion will match every person’s taste
- that products will remain available indefinitely
- that a decorating change will increase property value
- an exact visual match between digital images, samples and the finished product
You remain responsible for approving the final selections and deciding whether and how recommendations are implemented.
Project Changes, Timing and Delays
Changes to the approved scope may affect the price and estimated completion time.
We will discuss additional work and obtain approval before incurring material additional fees.
Estimated timeframes are provided in good faith. Delays may occur because of:
- supplier stock shortages or discontinued products
- manufacturing or freight delays
- delayed client decisions or information
- changes to the approved scope
- illness, emergency, severe weather or events beyond control
We will communicate material delays and work with you to arrange a reasonable alternative.
Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Hervey Bay Interiors retains ownership of original mood boards, layouts, written concepts, templates, presentations and other creative material prepared for your project.
Once all applicable fees have been paid, you may use the final material supplied to you for your own personal property and project.
You must not resell, publish, reproduce for commercial purposes, provide to another decorating business or use our material for a separate property without written permission.
Product images and other third-party material remain the property of their respective copyright owners.
Photography and Project Images
We will not publish identifiable photographs of your home or project for marketing purposes without your consent.
Where permission is provided, photographs may be used on the Hervey Bay Interiors website, portfolio, social media accounts or marketing material.
You may withdraw permission for future use by contacting us in writing. This may not require us to recall printed material or remove content already lawfully shared by third parties.
